Faraday Bar
Antarctica, Ukrainian polar station "Akademik Vernadsky".
The southernmost bar on the planet was built by British carpenters who were sent to the scientific station, then called Faraday, to repair the pier. However, the workers decided to use the existing wood in a completely different way and built an English pub. And although their decision was not appreciated by management, the Faraday bar became one of the most remarkable places on the continent.
In 1996, Great Britain transferred the base to Ukraine. The new owners gave her the name Academician Vernadsky. The bar, located not on its territory, retained the name of the former station.
Of course, the choice of drinks in the small wood-panelled space left over from the British is not very large. But where else in Antarctica can you have a cultural drink? There is only one bar for the entire continent!
The Faraday bar also has its own traditions. So, every guest who finds herself in these parts must donate some of her underwear. There is already a large collection of lingerie on the bar counter. They treat women to drinks - free of charge.
