In bars, as a rule, tableware is made of transparent glass, without patterns and not tinted. This glass allows you to evaluate the color of wines and the clarity of spirits, which is an indicator of the purity of the water used and the distillation carried out correctly. There are about 20 types of bar glass, among which the most common are: highball (can also be called a tumbler or collins), old fashion (aka rocks), shot glass (shot or shooter), shot glass , cognac glass (snifter), wine glass , champagne glasses (flute and champagne saucer), hurricane, Irish mug, cocktail glass, margarita, beer glass, beer mug.

Professional glass

Professional glass is characterized by increased strength and durability; it is more resistant to mechanical damage and industrial washing. Professional dishes, even after hundreds of washes in the dishwasher, retain their shine and original shine. A special heat treatment technology makes it possible to give the dishes not only plasticity, but also special resistance to sudden temperature changes. Additional processing of the edges guarantees their increased resistance to mechanical and thermal influences. As for wine glass, in addition to the listed properties, it must have high acoustic properties and transparency so as not to change the colors behind it.

When choosing glass for restaurants or cafes, you should take into account the policy and general style of the establishment, its budget, price level, daily number of visitors and the range of drinks included in the menu. When choosing tableware, even the size of the tables in a restaurant matters. So, if the table surface is small, then there is no point in buying large glasses with high legs with a large volume, since they take up a lot of space on the table. In this case, it is better to opt for small classic glasses with low, stable legs.

A competent restaurateur, when purchasing glass, should be guided by the rule: the number of seats is multiplied by two. It is advisable that the series of selected dishes correspond to the restaurant’s wine list. At a minimum, it should contain glasses for white and red wine, for Bordeaux and Burgundy, for champagne, martini, water, as well as glasses for vodka and grappa. To serve punch, mulled wine and other hot drinks, you will need thick-walled Irish mugs.

Serving

Today, many establishments are trying to move away from classic table settings, giving preference to unusual design solutions. Following the trends of the modern market, designers from major global manufacturers are constantly searching for new forms, bringing to life the most daring ideas. An example of this is the products of Libbey, a world leader in the production of professional glass. Increased resistance to mechanical stress and heat resistance, combined with the high skill of designers and advanced technologies of the company, make it possible to satisfy even the most demanding client.

Thanks to the variety of forms and production technologies, glassware can be relevant both for establishments of a democratic level and for expensive restaurants with gourmet cuisine and high requirements for serving; here everything depends on the concept of the establishment and the features of the interior, and of course on the choice of the manufacturer.
