A geyser or geyser stopper is a special device that makes pouring from a bottle more even and accurate. In fact, the true name of this device is “pourer” - a device for pouring, but in the Russian community the name “geyser” has stuck. Why this happened remains a mystery. The geyser allows you to pour drinks in a uniform stream, and is mainly used for house positions.

Kinds

Composite

A geyser stopper consisting of two removable parts: a metal base with two holes (a large one for pouring liquid and a small one for uniform air passage) and a plastic part for tightly attaching to the bottle.

Holistic

Typically, plastic geysers are made from one piece. Both the retainer adjacent to the inner neck of the bottle and the filling system with two holes are molded with plastic in a pressed form.

How to choose inventory

Variety

When choosing a geyser, you should be guided by the following features:

Material . The main part of the geyser is made of metal , plastic and balsa wood. Metal ones are great for daily use, they are durable and comfortable. Plastic ones are used to a greater extent when there are elements of flairing in the work of a bartender. In this case, the rounded plastic top of the geyser helps to fill evenly and is not traumatic if it falls. Cork geysers have their own specific aesthetics; their feature is a pleasant, sophisticated visual.

Functionality . Classic geyser plugs can only be inserted into strong alcoholic drinks, since the pouring speed depends on the density of the drinks. But what about syrups? After all, syrups are also added to cocktails quite often.

It's simple. Syrups have their own specific dispensers. They have a pump structure, and when pressed on top, a certain amount of syrup pours out of the spout.

Bottle neck diameter . Almost all bottles have a standard diameter, but there are brands with unique bottles, the diameter of which may vary. Therefore, manufacturers can find geysers in at least three different widths.

Color . Everything here will depend on the format of the bar. In a classic bar, for example, in the lobby of a five-star hotel, it is worth purchasing metal geysers that do not stand out against the general background of bottles and the bar counter, and in an incendiary tiki or pool bar you can experiment with colors. Moreover, geysers are made in different colors for easy navigation of the bartender. Also, colored geysers serve as a bright accent, and neon ones attract guests to the bar counter.

Price . The price of geysers varies in the same way as other bar accessories. When choosing, it is worth remembering that the geyser is still a consumable item and requires fairly frequent updating.

Care and storage rules

Storage

Like any equipment, a geyser requires careful care. Firstly, it is recommended to remove and wash geysers at the end of each work shift. Yes, this requires some time, but it is by maintaining ideal cleanliness in the workplace that the bartender complies with his job duties, as well as sanitation and hygiene standards.

After a work shift, the geysers should be removed, the bottles should be closed with their original caps, and the geyser should be rinsed under running water and dried so that there is no liquid left in it. At the beginning of the next shift, the reverse manipulation must be performed. You need to open the bottles, put the corks in a special container and insert the geysers.

When left in a bottle for a long time, the geyser can affect the spoilage of alcohol, sugar-containing drinks can become sugary and dry in the holes of the geyser, and strong alcoholic drinks can slightly erode. Therefore, it is better to keep your work area clean, thoroughly rinse the geysers and dry them before use.
