Crystal, like many wonderful inventions, appeared by accident: in 1615, England banned the use of wood in all industries except shipbuilding. The furnaces began to be heated with coal, which slightly changed the properties of the glass. And more than half a century later, in 1676, George Ravenscroft invented a composition with the addition of lead, which gave the glass an extraordinary melody and shine.
Nowadays, crystal is no less popular than in the old days, despite the high content of a dangerous metal - lead. But recently, restaurateurs are increasingly looking at crystal glass, which takes the best qualities from crystal.
Crystal glass has a noble snow-white-bluish color, it is distinguished by stunning shine and transparency, like crystal. At the same time it contains a minimum of lead and potassium. Like crystal, it is easily polished, beautifully refracts light and has a pleasant ringing sound.
This material takes strength and reliability from glass: crystal glass can be washed in the dishwasher, it is not afraid of chips like crystal.
Crystal champagne glasses and other crystal glassware are the choice of modern restaurateurs.
